Because if Kira knew L’s name he would intentionally not kill him, because he also wanted to get rid of Rem. If Light knew L’s name he could’ve just stayed and do nothing because the investigation was following Misa,so Light was safe. And as Rem lives for Misa, she decided to kill L so she can save her.
Watari was only L’s handler, so Rem doesn’t care if she kills him.
There are two possibilities: REM did not like Light. She was willing to do what Misa wanted, but she did not want to help Light directly and giving Light L’s name would have been exactly that. Ryuk stated he would not tell Light a human’s name, there were no consequences for him if he did, but he chose not to anyway.
L likely wouldn’t die, at least not in the way that he did in the show. Light would also be unburdened by a third party, and able to use his mind more effectively. Light wouldn’t feel as cornered, and he wouldn’t act out as much. Misa appearing was one of the most fatal events in the entire series for Light.
8 L Knew Light Was Kira And Lied Throughout the anime, L’s suspicion of Light wavers from episode to episode. Generally, though, he says there’s about a 5% chance that Light is Kira. Well, most anime fans can catch onto the fact that L probably lied to assuage Light’s concerns.

Rem wanted to protect Misa and would kill Light if he let/caused Misa to die. Misa, however, was a good tool for Light and he could not kill her without raising suspicion towards himself. Light also wanted L to die, but he could not kill him without knowing his real name.
When Misa meets Light, Rem sees that Misa’s lifespan has been halved yet again. Rem dies to save Misa Light puts Misa in danger by making her continue to write names in the Death Note, leading Rem to be tricked into writing down Watari’s name and L’s real name in the notebook to kill them.
After Subaru saves her, she falls deeply in love with him, becoming one of his most loyal followers. Rem will stick with him no matter what happens, even if Subaru rejects himself.
He dies calling out for Misa and Takada saying “What am I supposed to do now?” realizing every person who ever cared for him he destroyed (his dad, Sayu, Takada, etc) and he was utterly alone. Then to top it all off the only person who seemed to never lose faith in Light, Ryuk, ended up being the one to kill him.
Rem. After initially starting out on a bad foot, Rem eventually comes to fall for Subaru after he ends up emotionally and physically saving her during the events of the second arc, where afterwards she began devoting herself to him. Subaru even agreed to take Rem as her second wife, but only if Emilia would allow it.
Take one of Re:Zero’s most widely recognized characters, the polite, respectful blue-haired maid girl Rem. Along with her sister Ram, Rem serves Roswall L Mathers, one of the series’ anti-villains. Throughout the anime, Rem unleashes a range of powerful abilities.
Apart from L, Near is easily the smartest character in the series – smarter even than his partner, Mello. Near managed to make it to the very end, but he probably wouldn’t have caught Light or made it as far as he did without the help of L and Mello.
