The character appeared in the last panel of The Incredible Hulk #180 before having a larger role in #181 (cover-dated November 1974). He was created by Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas, writer Len Wein, and Marvel art director John Romita Sr.
When Magneto stripped the Adamantium from Wolverines bones, Wolverine grew bone claws that would break and grow back. Wolverine’s body can not regrow adamantium. He would regrow bone claws.
Wolverine has three indestructible metal blades (commonly called “claws”) sheathed inside each forearm. That also means that whenever he bent his arms, the ends of his claws would tear out of his forearms and/or elbows.
Marvel’s unbreakable metal, adamantium, has actually been broken a number of times. Here are 15 characters who have done it!…Tough Break: 15 Characters Who Broke Adamantium8 GLADIATOR.9 DARGONITE. 10 THANOS. 11 DOCTOR DOOM. 12 S’YM. 13 HULK. 14 BLASTAAR. 15 THOR.
In Wolverine’s case, his ability to pop his claws through the surface of his skin is not particularly stressful, given that he regenerates from any injury in seconds. There is some pain associated with it, but his healing factor must mask that pain well enough he is hardly stressed under most conditions.
Adamantium is one of the hardest metals known in marvel universe…it can cut through almost anything if the wielder is strong enough and the adamantium weapon sharp enough. There are few exceptions tough… adamantium (and adamantium like materials), uru, adamantine and some unknown metals.
His claws have also failed to cut or pierce the mangog, the nemean lion, the juggernaut, king thor in the reigning, and celestial armour. Basically his claws cannot cut through any material, being, or object which is stronger or tougher than primary adamantium.
