In the end of GoWIII, Kratos stabs himself with the Blade of Olympus in defiance of Athena, who was demanding he give up the “Hope” he had stolen from Pandora’s Box. After the credits, you’re greeted by the scene of the Blade of Olympus, bloodied and abandoned where Kratos last lay.
